Area Code Overlay More Information

Existing 918 area code customers would keep their current area code. New customers and those who want a new or additional telephone number(s) would be given the new area code, unless a 918 number(s) is requested and found as available.

Today, local calls are dialed using the 7 digit number.

With an overlay, local calls will be dialed using 10 digits (the 3 digit area code and the 7 digit number).

Today, long distance calls in the 918 area code are dialed using 1 + 10 digits (1 + (3-digit Area code) + 7 digit number).

With an overlay, long distance calls in the 918 area code and the newly added area code, will also require dialing 1 + 10 digits (1 + (3-digit Area code) + 7 digit number).
