NEW CHOICES FOR LOCAL PLUS CUSTOMERS

Some months ago, SBC-Oklahoma announced its intention to end its Local Plus Program, which allowed many Oklahomans in rural areas to make what would otherwise be long distance calls for one set price. The program had been initiated voluntarily by SBC-Oklahoma without Commission authority.

The Corporation Commission asked the company to delay the cancellation of the plan, and to use the time to develop alternatives based on data the firm would gather from Local Plus customers. Those alternatives would then have to be approved by the Commission.

On July 11, 2003 the Commission approved the new options.
