  18. Federal Consumer Information Center (FCIC).
    The FCIC is part of the U.S. General Services Administration and operates a toll free contact center and two publications.

    1-800-FED-INFO (1-800-326-2996) -- Representatives will answer consumers’ questions or get them to the federal agency that can.

    The contact center also takes orders for the Consumer Action Handbook and the Consumer Information Catalog. The Handbook provides advice and tips on solving consumer complaints, as well as thousands of names, addresses, telephone numbers, web site and e-mail addresses for national consumer organizations, better business bureaus, and corporations.
