NEW OPTIONS FOR LOCAL PLUS CUSTOMERS

SBC-Oklahoma is ending Local Plus in October. The plan had cost $33.00 a month, and allowed unlimited calls within either the 918 or 405/580 area code. The following is an explanation of the options that will be available, with examples.

Toll Value: Customers receive 2,000 minutes a month (more than an hour a day) that they can use to call any seven-digit phone number within either the 918 or 405/580 calling area in which they reside. The monthly price is $31.95 or less than 1.6 cents a minute. Any calls over the 2,000 minute limit cost 9 cents a minute.

Example: Sue Smiley has several relatives and friends who live out of town but within the 405/580 calling area. She likes to call them several times a month, but paying regular long-distance charges can quickly add up. Because the Toll Value plan gives her – on average – more than an hour a day of calling time in the 405/580 calling area, she decides to sign up for this plan.

1+SAVER Direct: Customers receive 2,000 minutes a month that they can use to call one number selected by them within either the 918 or 405/580 calling area in which they reside. The monthly price for 1+SAVER Direct is $17.95. Any calls over the 2,000 minute limit cost 9 cents a minute.

Example: Jack Johnson likes to call his girlfriend, Jill, who lives 80 miles away but within the 918 calling area, five or six times a week. He sometimes talks for an hour or more. Jack has figured out that with 1+SAVER Direct, he can pay less than a penny a minute and still talk to Jill every day for an hour. A casual Internet user could also use this plan to dial into an Internet service provider (ISP) that may be located in another town but within the calling area.

1+SAVER Direct Unlimited: Customers receive an unlimited amount of calling minutes each month to one number that is served by SBC. The monthly price for 1+SAVER Direct Unlimited is $19.95. A customer can add a second number for only $2 a month.

Example: Although he lives in a small town, Gary Gonzalez is a big Internet user. However, to go online, he must first dial into an Internet service provider (ISP) with a phone number in a town located more than 30 miles away. But by using 1+SAVER Direct Unlimited, Gary can designate the number of his ISP (as long as it is served by SBC) and then go online day and night and never pay more than $19.95 a month. For another $2 a month, Gary could designate a second number, such as a back-up ISP number or the frequently called number of a friend or relative.

All Distance Connections: Customers receive unlimited nationwide SBC Long Distance domestic direct-dialed voice-only calling from home at anytime to anyone in the United States. The plan also includes all local calling plus the most popular calling features, including CallNotes Plus, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call Waiting ID, Three-Way Calling and InLine inside wire maintenance. The monthly price for All Distance Connections is $48.95 a month. Similar plans are available if the SBC customer does not have CallNotes in his or her area or subscribes to Cingular wireless service or SBC Yahoo.
